Grandfather of our colleague Anton Vorobyov - Vorobyov Vladimir Sergeyevich war the participant of the Great Patriotic War. He was born on 4th of December, 1925, in the Kesovo village, Lyahovsky district of Gorkovsky area.

In December, 1942, he went to the army as a volunteer and was directed in the educational center in the Svobodny city of the Primorsky region. In May, 1943, after the graduation he was transferred to the active army to the 1st Moscow proletarian devision. In summer, 1943,  as part of the rifle company, which consisted from 150 people, he participated in the battle at the Kursk Bulge. After the battle finished only 12 people from the company stayed alive, including 5 people from his home Lyahovsky district. All of them went the War all the way and achieved Germany.

Vladimir Sergeyevich finished the War near Koenigsberg as a sergeant - commander of the machine gun settlement of the 79th Guardian infantry devision of the 26th Guardian infantry East-Siberian Gorodok Red banner devision. After that he took part in the release of the East Prussia from the German invaders. He was demobilized in the 1949.

Vladimir Sergeyevich Vorobyov was awarded by 4 medals: “For courage” in August, 1944, and Order “Praise, 3d degree” for the participation in battles for Koenigsberg. In the peacetime he was awarded with 9 medals and order “Patriotic War, 2nd degree”. 

There is in award list of Vladimir Sergeyevich inscription: “Participant of battles with German invaders from the May, 1943. Vorobyov proved himself as brave and courageous younger commander who was loyal to his socialistic Homeland. On the 6th of April, 1945, in the battle near the Koenigsberg Vorobyov put forward with his machine gun under the heavy machine gun fire of invader, and suppressed by storm fire 2 fire points which prevented expansion of our shooting devisions. Also he destroyed up to 15 German soldiers and officers. Vorobyov acted bravely and strongly, skillfully supported the expansion of our infantry and contributed to successful handling of hardly strengthened defense line of invader. For courage and bravery within battles Vorobyov was awarded with the order “Praise, 3d degree”.
