On April 19, 2021, the Law of the Republic of Tatarstan No. 23-ZRT of April 8, 2021 "On Amendments to the Electoral Code of the Republic of Tatarstan and Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Tatarstan" came into force.
The Electoral Code of the Republic of Tatarstan has been amended to clarify the procedure for conducting voting outside the premises, regulating the procedure for holding a referendum when a high-alert or emergency situation is introduced, as well as the procedure for conducting voting in elections for several consecutive days.
Similar changes were made to the Law of the Republic of Tatarstan of March 24, 2004 No. 23-ZRT "On local referendums".
In addition, the Electoral Code of the Republic of Tatarstan has been supplemented with provisions on the restriction of the passive electoral right of persons sentenced to imprisonment for committing crimes provided for in certain articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, on the early termination of the powers of a member of the election commission, and on the procedure for providing paid airtime and free print space to candidates during the campaign period.
