On March 1, 2024, amendments to the Republican law on free legal assistance came into force. In particular, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Tatarstan, who promotes the provision of free legal assistance within his competence, is included in the number of participants in the state system of free legal assistance.

In addition, the list of persons entitled to receive free legal assistance has been supplemented by citizens who have signed a contract for voluntary assistance in performing tasks assigned to the troops of the National Guard of the Russian Federation.

«Citizens who voluntarily provide assistance to the troops of the National Guard of the Russian Federation, provided they participate in a special operation, will also receive the right to free legal assistance»,- said Rustem Zagidullin, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Participants in the state system of free legal assistance provide free legal assistance in the form of legal advice in oral and written forms, as well as drafting statements, complaints, petitions and other legal documents.

«In accordance with the legislative changes, assistance in drafting legal documents will be provided, including in cases of medical and social expertise, rehabilitation and habilitation of disabled people»,- explained the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The changes were made as part of bringing the republican law into line with federal legislation.
