Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan: Establishment of sanitary protection zones of cemeteries is one of the requirements of federal legislation

1 August 2024, Thursday

Issues related to the organization of funeral services in the territory of municipalities were discussed at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan. A video reception with employees of local government bodies was held by Deputy Minister of Justice Mukharryam Ibyatov.

During the video reception, special attention was paid to the issue of establishing sanitary protection zones of cemeteries. According to its functional purpose, a sanitary protection zone is a protective barrier that ensures the level of safety of the population, water supply and other important facilities from possible harmful effects. Their size can vary from 1000 to 50 meters, depending on the burial area.

In the republic, out of 3806 funeral facilities, sanitary protection zone projects have been developed for only 27, for which there are sanitary and epidemiological conclusions on the compliance of the project with sanitary rules.

According to federal legislation in the field of urban development, from January 1, 2025, indicative, estimated (preliminary) sanitary protection zones cease to exist, and restrictions on the use of land plots in them do not apply.

«In connection with the entry into force of amendments to the legislation, municipalities must take measures to establish sanitary protection zones as soon as possible. Legislation in this direction must be implemented impeccably», - concluded Deputy Minister of Justice Mukharryam Ibyatov.
