Rustem Zagidullin: more than five and a half thousand elderly people receive social services within the framework of the regional project «Older Generation»
From October 1 to 10, the traditional Decade of Older People is held in Tatarstan, dedicated to the International Day of Older Persons. During a working visit to the Yelabuga District, the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustem Zagidullin took part in events dedicated to the holiday.
A meeting with representatives of the older generation was held in the Yelabuga City Palace of Culture. Rustem Zagidullin congratulated everyone present on this significant day, emphasizing the importance of caring for the elderly and their active participation in the life of society. He noted that the government of the Republic of Tatarstan is making every effort to create comfortable living conditions for the older generation.
For example, within the framework of the regional project «Older Generation» of the National Project «Demography», a pilot project is being implemented to create a long-term care system for elderly citizens and disabled people. More than five and a half thousand people in need of help are covered by social services at home.
According to the Minister, thanks to the project, the load on medical institutions providing primary and emergency care has decreased by 10%. This made it possible to organize scheduled treatment for elderly people with serious chronic diseases.
In addition, the pilot project helped 75 relatives of elderly people return to work, and 1,388 relatives continue to work, combining care for loved ones with work. The growth rate of relatives who retained their employed status was 20% in 2023 and 10.7% in the first half of 2024. This was made possible thanks to the support that relatives of elderly people receive within the framework of the pilot project.
