Today the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Tatarstan hosted an important event entitled «The Laws of Victory», timed to coincide with a significant date - the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The event gathered representatives of various state structures, the judicial board, law students and public figures of the republic. Among the guests of honor were Rustem Zagidullin, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan, and Mars Fatkullin, Head of the State Legal Bureau of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Opening the session, Ilgiz Gilazov, Chairman of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, emphasized the special significance of legal regulation during the years of military trials: «The law for a lawyer is the very universal matter with the help of which he systematizes the surrounding reality, gives it form and fills it with content». He expressed his joy at the presence of a large number of young legal professionals, noting the importance of preserving historical memory and passing on the experience of generations.
The participants of the meeting discussed in detail the norms of legislation of the Soviet state and the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic in force during the war years. The key normative acts aimed at supporting the front and civilian population, organizing production, ensuring law and order and social protection of citizens were considered.
Important data on the heroic past of Tatarstan were also voiced: during the war years more than 700 thousand residents of the republic went to the front, of whom only 350 thousand were able to return, that is, about half of them died defending the country. Residents of Tatarstan showed outstanding qualities of valor and honor: among the heroes of the war there were 353 Heroes of the Soviet Union, 51 three times Knight of the Order of Glory.
Special attention was paid to the issues of patriotic education of the youth, emphasizing the need to study the historical heritage and to realize the role of every citizen in preserving peace and order.
