In Tatarstan the protection of homeless people's rights and conditions in «workhouses» were discussed
Tatarstan minister of justice Rustem Zagidullin participated in a meeting of the Expert council under the Commissioner for human rights in the Republic of Tatarstan. The key topic of discussion was the protection of the rights of homeless persons.
According to data presented at the meeting by the ANO «SRC «Priyut Cheloveka» the situation remains tense: only in Kazan, the number of homeless people ranges from 2500 to 2700, of which approximately 80% are men. Notifications of those in need are received by theCommissioner for human rights in the Republic of Tatarstan both directly and through «GLONASS+112» system, and each case is addressed with relevant agencies.
Meeting participants examined in detail the functioning of so-called «workhouses». This year, the Prosecutor's office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs jointly inspected such facilities.
«It is necessary to ensure the transparency of the activities of such institutions, improve legal regulation, and strengthen oversight», - the meeting noted.
