By Order № 157 of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation dated May 20, 2024, the Standard for Providing Free Legal Assistance and the procedure for monitoring its compliance were approved.
The standard applies to entities providing free legal assistance, including State Law Bureau, lawyers, notaries and legal clinics. In addition to the general provisions, it approves the requirements for the procedure for informing citizens about the provision of free legal assistance. It also defines the types and grounds for obtaining it.
In addition, the document provides for an assessment of the quality of free legal assistance.
«Residents of our republic will be able to assess the availability and quality of free legal assistance provided to them on the basis of questionnaires that employees of the State Legal Bureau provide to citizens after providing legal assistance», - explains Minister of Justice of the Tatarstan Rustem Zagidullin.
According to the Standard, the quality of such assistance will be evidenced by: timeliness, satisfaction of recipients with its volume, timing and availability, absence of complaints about incorrect or inattentive attitude of specialists.
