Kazan residents were provided with free legal assistance as part of Victory Day celebrations
Today residents of Kazan had an opportunity to consult lawyers on various legal issues free of charge. Specialists from specialized agencies, federal structures and supervisory bodies explained to the residents of the republic the provisions of legislation concerning social support measures for labor veterans, the procedure for collecting wage arrears from the employer, as well as actions in a situation related to telephone fraud. In total, about 20 questions were received. The event, organized by the Ministry of Justice of Tatarstan in the framework of Victory Day celebrations, took place in the House of Friendship of Peoples.
During the event, a specialist of the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Republic of Tatarstan was approached by a pensioner who said that she was a labor veteran of Russia. She asked to clarify the list of social support measures provided by law for this category of citizens. An employee of the Ministry explained to her that according to the current legislation veterans of labor of Russia are entitled to social support measures for housing and communal services, as well as receiving a transport card for travel on public transport. «It is possible to receive these benefits by applying to the regional subdivision of the State Institution «Republican Center for Material Assistance (Compensation Payments)» located at the applicant's place of residence», - said the specialist.
A participant contacted the prosecutor's office with concerns about a possible conversation with a telephone scammer. The woman received a phone call from an unknown person to whom she dictated her passport series and number. She now feared that the fraudsters could use her personal data. The specialist explained that passport number and series alone are not enough to commit fraud. However, the law enforcement representative recommended to be careful and take some preventive measures. First of all, he recommended to immediately change the password on the Gosuslugi portal and be sure to activate two-stage authentication, linking your cell phone number to your personal account. This means that every important action on the site will be confirmed by a special SMS code sent to the registered number. «And remember, please, - he added, never give verification codes and personal data to strangers. This is your protection».
