This year fulfilled the 25th anniversary of the institution of justices of the peace in Tatarstan. In an interview with the newspaper «Respublika Tatarstan» Tatarstan's Minister of Justice, Rustem Zagidullin, discussed the closeness of justices to the public, their professionalism and integrity, the fine-tuning of the judicial system, the introduction of digitalization and much more.
In particular, speaking about priorities in the development of justice of the peace, Rustem Zagidullin emphasized the importance of comfortable infrastructure for justices of the peace courts: «Decent conditions are equally necessary for justices of the peace themselves and their staff, as well as for citizens who come to these courts seeking justice and protection of their interests».
The Minister noted that, thanks to a decision by the Rais of the Republic, Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan has been using a programmatic method for organizing the logistical and organizational support for justices of the peace since 2014. The state program «Development of justice in the Republic of Tatarstan» is currently being implemented.
According to him, 190 court districts are currently located in 71 buildings. Their total area is over 34 000 square meters, with each court district accounting for approximately 182 square meters. In this regard, Tatarstan ranks among the leading regions in the Volga Federal District.
