In the Republic of Tatarstan, active work on legal education for citizens continues through the School of legal knowledge. Recently, a lecture on the activities of the Ministry of justice of the Republic of Tatarstan and opportunities for obtaining free legal assistance was held for students of the «University of the third age».

First deputy minister of justice of the Republic of Tatarstan Ilya Gomzik briefed citizens on the legal support system for the population.

«Federal law defines the types of free legal assistance, the foundations for the formation of this system, and a list of categories of citizens eligible for such assistance», - noted Ilya Gomzik. A full list of eligible categories is available on the Ministry's official website in the «Free legal assistance» section.

According to the first deputy minister, an important area of activity is informing citizens about opportunities to receive free legal assistance. Several convenient services are available in the Republic, for example:

  • The Republic of Tatarstan geoportal features an interactive map, where residents can select the nearest location for such assistance, find out appointment times and find contact information online.
  • A special hyperlink «Free legal assistance» has been added to the Tatarstan State Services Portal, providing access to information on legal support.

«This innovation was introduced timely and has proven effective during the coronavirus pandemic», - emphasized Ilya Aleksandrovich.

  • The «Resident card of the Republic of Tatarstan» mobile app has been updated with a feature for receiving legal consultations. In 2024, this service provided free legal assistance to 46 citizens and in the first 9 months of 2025, this figure has increased to 101.
  • Residents of the republic can also seek free legal assistance through the Unified portal of state and municipal services, choosing a convenient format: in-person consultation, telephone consultation or online meeting.
