Rustem Nigmatzyanov, winner of the republican program «Batyrlar. Heroes of Tatarstan» successfully completed the second stage of his internship at the Ministry of justice of Tatarstan.

The three-day internship focused on the Ministry of justice's logistical, legal, informational and organizational support for justices of the peace in Tatarstan. During this time, Rustem Nigmatzyanov, under the guidance of Tatarstan deputy minister of justice Marat Nizamiyev, visited the courtrooms of justices of the peace in Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny and Nizhnekamsk. The program also included visits to the Supreme Court of the Republic of Tatarstan, board of the Judicial Department and the Main directorate of the Federal Bailiff Service of Tatarstan.

«During the internship, I had the opportunity to observe a trial before a justice of the peace and to see how carefully all the rules are observed in the courtroom», - said Rustem Nigmatzyanov. He also added that he was impressed by the scale of work of the justices of the peace. Justices of the peace handle approximately 80% of all cases filed in general jurisdiction courts, which has had a positive impact on addressing many issues affecting both district courts and the judicial system as a whole.

Eduard Mindubaev, magistrate of judicial precinct № 1 for the Soviet district of Kazan, focused on the specifics of their work. He noted that, unlike federal judges, justices of the peace do not specialize and handle all categories of cases, from criminal to administrative, requiring extensive knowledge in all areas of law.

«Despite the fact that justices of the peace handle almost three times more than their federal counterparts, the quality of justice remains high. Public trust in the justice of the peace is demonstrated by the fact that only about two percent of decisions are appealed», - concluded Eduard Ramilevich.

Furthermore, the winner of the republican program took part in a ceremony presenting departmental awards to the staff of justices of the peace as part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the justice of the peace in the Republic of Tatarstan.

The third stage of Rustem Nigmatzyanov's internship will focus on studying the Ministry of justice's interactions with local governments.
