The Ministry of justice of Tatarstan explained why scammers make short calls
The Ministry of justice of the Republic of Tatarstan draws the attention of residents to the activation of telephone fraudsters using the so-called «short call» scheme. More and more citizens are faced with a situation when a call comes from an unknown number, which lasts only a couple of seconds and immediately ends.
As explained in the Ministry of justice, such actions are not an accident. This is a well-thought-out strategy used by scammers, advertising services and automated call systems. Their main purpose is to provoke a person to call back to an unknown number.
By calling back, a person risks getting into the database for further fraudulent actions or receiving a stream of intrusive advertising. In addition, some numbers may be chargeable, which will lead to financial losses for the subscriber.
The Ministry of justice of Tatarstan advises citizens to exercise caution and not to call back strangers, especially short «missed» calls.
