Tatarstan Ministry of justice warns of fraud against military families

2 February 2026, Monday

The Ministry of justice of the Republic of Tatarstan informs about the appearance of a fraudulent scheme aimed at military families. Employees of the State law bureau of Tatarstan have recorded a series of cases when criminals act according to a well-established scheme. The callers identify themselves as employees of government agencies affiliated with the Ministry of defense and report on allegedly unreleased awards or compensation due.

«Fraudsters operate with impressive amounts — from a million rubles for non-existent awards to compensation in the amount of 18 million rubles. At the same time, they use psychological pressure, mentioning corruption schemes and mistakes of military enlistment offices», - experts say.

The leading expert, Ilham Midhatov, emphasizes that no government agency makes payments or awards over the phone. All award and compensation procedures are carried out exclusively through official channels: military commissariats, the Ministry of defense and other authorized agencies.

If you receive such calls, immediately stop the conversation, record the phone number and contact law enforcement agencies. Statements about «millions not received», «hidden awards» and «additional payments for medals» should be perceived as a direct sign of fraud.

«It is important to be vigilant and protect yourself and your loved ones», - concludes Ilham Ildusovich.
