Amendments have been made to the federal law on free legal assistance, which expand the list of persons entitled to receive legal support at the expense of the state.
Now the list has been added:
- persons applying for recognition as internally displaced persons or refugees
- citizens who have already been recognized as internally displaced persons or refugees
- persons who have received temporary asylum in the territory of the Russian Federation
These categories can apply for free legal assistance on the following issues:
- receiving social support measures
- recognition of the status of an internally displaced person or refugee
- provision of temporary shelter
- admission to Russian citizenship
- establishment of legally significant facts
- recovery of lost documents
The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustem Zagidullin noted that corresponding changes will soon be made to the republican law on free legal assistance.
