The Ministry of Justice clarified the issues on which families of SMO participants can receive free legal assistance
As Ilham Midkhatov, a leading specialist at the State Legal Bureau, explained, the list of issues for which free legal assistance is provided is regulated by law and includes a number of areas of legal support.
«It is important to understand that the procedure for providing free legal assistance is determined by the Federal Law «On Free Legal Assistance in the Russian Federation» and relevant regional regulations, — noted Ilham Midkhatov. — Family members of SMO participants, like other privileged categories of citizens, are entitled to receive free legal assistance on legal matters, including housing, labor, social, and family relations».
For example, if family law issues arise, one can count on assistance in establishing paternity or maternity, collecting alimony, formalizing guardianship and trusteeship, and protecting the interests of children left without parental care.
If housing issues arise, lawyers can assist with transactions involving the sole residence, recognizing the right to residential premises, and protecting rights to the land on which the residence is located.
Lawyers provide consultations on social security matters, including receiving benefits, applying for social assistance, and resolving pension issues.
Special guarantees for the families of military service members are a priority – qualified assistance is provided on social and compensation payments, military pay, and protecting the rights of combat veterans.
