9 October 2012, Tuesday
The UN General Assembly has designed October 1 as International Day of the Elderly on 1st October, 1991. It has been celebrated annually ever since. The aim of the Day is to attract attention towards problems of the elderly.
In connection with this on 6th October, 2012 meeting with the elderly was held in Orlovskiy rural settlement of Layishevskiy municipal district by the staff of Department for channeling interaction with self-government units on legislative matters(department is subordinate to the Ministry of Justice of Tatartsan). This event was convened to celebrate the decade which is dedicated to the International Day of the Elderly.
Specialists of department have seriously prepared for the meeting. Head of Orlovskiy rural settlement took serious part in event’s organization. Meeting was attended by the head of that rural settlement – Valentina I. Fetilina. Veterans of the settlement also took part in it. The event passed in a friendly atmosphere – there was more to informal talk than to official high-flown declarations. Specialists of department organized tea and pies for veterans. And all the topical burning issues have been solved.
Mainly those issues related daily needs of this rural settlement – e.g. energy and gas supplies organization, creating conditions for citizens’ mass-recreation together with renovation activities relating that places for recreation. The latter topic included providing settlement’s citizens with free access to public water objects and onto their shorelines, collection and removal of daily waste, ritual service and burial places arrangement and some other aspects. Also the problem of  keeping to ecology security legislation and issues of inheritance were raised.
In the course of that talk veterans also came to understanding that head of their settlement is also entitled to perform some notarial actions and it is not always necessary to address some problems to rural settlement.
In addition, in order to present consultative and legislative help head of the rural settlement was instructed to exercise all the needed actions and competences so as to direct 100 per cent of penalty fares for not observing the rules of settlements’ territories and those as for city districts improvement (within the framework of the current legislation in force). December 1 was set as a deadline.
Overall there was a 3-hour-long talk in a very friendly atmosphere and in the end local citizens kindly asked organizers of the meeting to continue this practice in the future.
