Outdoor safety in bad weather

2 December 2024, Monday

It is important to remember that during periods of bad weather, it is necessary to take precautions for both your own safety and the safety of others.

Here are some recommendations for pedestrians and motorists that can help maintain safety.

For pedestrians:

1. Move carefully, slowly, look under your feet and step on your entire foot.

2. Elderly people who walk with a cane should use an item with a rubber tip or a pointed end.

3. Do not try to run across the roadway near moving cars. This is extremely dangerous! You can slip and get hit by a car! Observe traffic rules!

4. If your shoes slip on snow and icy roads, put a band-aid on them - this will reduce slipping.

For motorists:

1. Observe the speed limit!

2. Keep your distance while driving. Remember that in the autumn-winter period it increases 2-3 times more than in the summer.

3. Use studded tires on all four wheels of the car.

4. Always start braking early. Do not rely on the brake or studded tires. Remember that with sudden braking, skidding and overturning are possible!

5. If necessary, immediately call 101 and 112!
