The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan reminds that driving a car without a valid driver's license is subject to an administrative fine of 5 to 15 thousand rubles.
According to the Ministry, a significant number of administrative offenses considered by justices of the peace are related to violations of traffic rules. Every year, more than 1,700 people are brought to administrative responsibility for offenses related to driving vehicles.
In addition, the Ministry of Justice of Tatarstan reminded that from April 1, 2025, foreign driver's licenses will lose their legal force in Russia for persons who received a residence permit or citizenship of the Russian Federation before April 1, 2024.
Until April 1, 2025, a simplified exchange procedure is provided for these categories of citizens, which does not require passing exams if their license is still valid. However, after this date, drivers will have to pass exams to obtain a Russian document.
Citizens who received a residence permit or citizenship of the Russian Federation after April 1, 2024, are required to replace their foreign licenses within one year. The replacement procedure involves passing exams.
An exception is made for citizens of Belarus and Russia who have Belarusian licenses - they can continue to use these documents in Russia.
