In the Year of the defender of the Fatherland, a memorial stele was unveiled in honor of a veteran of the Great Patriotic War
As part of the Year of the defender of the Fatherland and the celebration of Family Day, a ceremonial opening of a memorial stele in honor of veteran Khafizov Gabbas Khafizovich took place. The memorial stele was installed at the entrance to the village of Azimovo, Apastovsky District, the veteran's homeland.
Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Nurgalievich Minnikhanov repeatedly emphasized the heroism of Tatarstan residents who did not spare their lives to defeat fascism: «More than 700 thousand people from Tatarstan alone went to the front to defend their homeland and the whole world from fascism with weapons in hand. More than half of them did not return. But despite all the hardships and deprivations, our people stood firm! And the exploits of our fellow countrymen will never be erased from our memory», - Rais noted.
Gabbas Khafizovich, the grandfather of the Chief of the Administrative Office of the Ministry of Justice, went through the difficult path of a front-line soldier, participated in battles against the nazi invaders. His military exploits were marked by the Order of Glory, 2nd degree, medals «For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945», «60 years of the USSR Armed Forces», «70 years of the USSR Armed Forces».
The event continued with a concert program in the rural community center, where fellow villagers and invited guests honored the memory of the veteran, the great-grandson of Gabbas Khafizovich told the story of his great-grandfather's life, which he learned from the family photo album and the memories of his father and grandfather.
«For me, as a great-grandson, Gabbas Khafizovich is not just a name in the family history. This is an example of courage, fortitude and loyalty to one's ideals. This is the man who taught my father to value peace, love his land and remember those who gave their lives for it. And my father passed this experience on to me», - Samat noted.
Azimovo also installed a memorial plaque on the house where the SMO participant lived. The events brought together local residents, the public and the district leadership, who honored the bright memory of all defenders of the Motherland.
