In Tatarstan, more than 800 military personnel and their families received free legal assistance
Over the first 6 months of 2025, lawyers of the State Law Bureau of Tatarstan provided free legal assistance to over 800 military personnel and their family members. This was reported during a live broadcast at the Regional public reception office in the republic by First Deputy Minister of Justice Ilya Gomzik.
Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov often emphasizes the importance of supporting military personnel and their families: «We must create all the necessary conditions for returning to civilian life. This will require solving a whole range of issues, primarily the socialization and rehabilitation of veterans of the SVO, their employment and immediate provision of all support measures».
Ilya Aleksandrovich clarified that most often, free legal assistance is sought on issues of monetary allowance for military personnel and the provision of individual payments to them in accordance with the law, the provision of benefits, social guarantees and compensation. Recently, there has been a significant increase in requests for family ties. The main problem is related to the discrepancies in the spelling of surnames, names and other personal data in various documents.
«If we talk about statistics, then in the first 6 months of 2025, 832 participants of the SMO and their family members contacted the employees of the State Legal Bureau, including 278 people who were received by the lawyers of the State Legal Bureau at the site of the Republican Foundation «Defenders of the Fatherland»», - he added.
According to the First Deputy Minister, the State Legal Bureau of Tatarstan is today becoming the main participant in the state system of free legal assistance. «For example, in the first half of this year, almost 2,000 people applied to participants in the state system for free legal assistance, of which more than 1,600 people applied to the legal bureau», - said Ilya Gomzik.
The law defines the categories of citizens who are provided with free legal assistance and the issues they can address. Among them:
- participants, veterans of the SMO and their family members;
- disabled persons of groups 1 and 2;
- veterans of the Great Patriotic War;
- disabled children, orphans and their guardians;
- low-income;
- persons affected by emergencies and their relatives.
