Kazan celebrated the 283rd anniversary of Gavriil Derzhavin
Today, on the 283rd anniversary of the birth of our great compatriot, statesman, and poet Gavriil Romanovich Derzhavin, a flower-laying ceremony was held at his monument in Lyadsky Garden in Kazan.
Representatives of the republic's authorities, figures from culture and education, members of the Writers' Union and national-cultural associations, as well as Kazan residents, gathered for the ceremony. Deputy Minister Marat Nizamiev attended on behalf of the Ministry of Justice.
In his welcoming address, Marat Nizamiev emphasized the special significance of Derzhavin's personality for the justice system of Tatarstan: «For me, as a representative of the justice system of the Republic of Tatarstan, participating in today's event is filled with special meaning, - said the Deputy Minister. - Derzhavin is a unique historical figure who harmoniously combined the gift of an inspired poet with the profound legal mind of a statesman».
Marat Nizamiev stressed that the Ministry of Justice of Tatarstan pays primary attention to preserving and popularizing the legal heritage of outstanding compatriots. «Reflecting on the work and activities of Gavriil Romanovich Derzhavin contributes to strengthening legal culture, developing professional ethics among lawyers, and fostering patriotic education among youth», - he added.
Concluding his speech, Marat Nizamiev congratulated those present on the commemorative date and wished: «May the legacy of this outstanding lawyer and poet guide us in serving justice and the good of the Fatherland!»
