Detachments of young traffic inspectors began their history on March 6, 1973. On this day, the decree of the secretariat of the Komsomol Central Committee, the Board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR and the Ministry of Education of the USSR approved the Regulations on detachments of young traffic inspectors.
By the end of 1973, there were almost 14 thousand units of the UID, their meetings and competitions were organized. Two years later, the First All-Russian Gathering of Young Traffic Inspectors took place in the Orlyonok camp.
Young traffic inspectors of the Republic of Tatarstan at the country level first declared themselves in 1986. It was then that the team of the republic became the winner of the All-Russian cycling competitions "Safe Wheel". Today, 1,500 YID units are actively working in Tatarstan, uniting 19 thousand children in their ranks.
Activists of the Yidov movement, with the support of employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate and employees of the GBU "Road Safety", carry out explanatory work with children in educational organizations on the rules of the road, produce propaganda materials, agitate for road safety, participate in raids to prevent traffic violations by children, distribute reflective elements and explain how to use them correctly to become more noticeable on the road.
They demonstrate their knowledge of traffic rules, first aid skills, bike control on various curly obstacles and in the motor city at the "Safe Wheel" competitions.
Since 2017, a free profile change of the UID units has been held in the children's health camp. To carry out information and propaganda support of the events, on December 4, 2018, the opening of three children's press centers of the UID took place in Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny and Almetyevsk. Since 2020, the activities of teachers-leaders of the UID units are additionally stimulated by a cash prize. Republican contests, webinars and forums are held annually.
