The II Forum of Legal Clinics of the Republic of Tatarstan was held in Kazan

Heads of state authorities, teachers and specialists of legal clinics spoke about the interchange of practices of legal clinics and the creation of mechanisms for interaction between these organizations in the course of their activities at the II Forum of Legal Clinics of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan actively cooperates with legal clinics, provides them with practical and informational support on emerging issues.

«Today we are working on the issue of interaction between legal clinics and the State Law Bureau of Tatarstan, including the issue of internship by university students at the site of the State Bureau of Justice in the Justice Quarter, - said First Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan Ainur Galimov. - Of course, this will give impetus to the work of legal clinics and strengthen their connection with other participants of free legal assistance».

In the format of discussions during the plenary session, speakers and experts exchanged experiences and opinions on creating a unified community of participants in the non-governmental system, improving the quality of legal assistance provided to the population, strengthening the status of legal clinics and involving students in this work.

Commissioner for Human Rights Saria Kharisovna Saburskaya, in turn, stressed the importance of the work of legal clinics, raising legal awareness, and fostering a high legal culture.

«Our citizens need legal assistance and professional lawyers. In March of this year, amendments were made to the law on the provision of free legal assistance, and we became a participant in the state system of free legal assistance. The introduction of appropriate amendments to the legislation has consolidated the established practice of providing free legal assistance to citizens by the Commissioner and his Office within the framework of existing competence», - Saria Saburskaya noted.

The head of the legal clinic of Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, Stella Seletskaya, suggested considering the introduction of the compulsory discipline «Legal Advice» into the educational programs of law faculties. «This will allow students to acquire the necessary professional skills in the future, such as effective communication and interaction with citizens, and will become an incentive for their involvement in the activities of legal clinics», - she explained.

The plenary session was also attended by Anton Benov, Deputy Director of the Department for the Development and Regulation of Legal assistance and Legal Services of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, Igor Bikeev, Deputy of the State Council of Tatarstan, Maxim Skirda, Head of the Department of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Tatarstan, Timur Kakokho, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Tatarstan Regional Branch of the All-Russian Public Organization «Association of Lawyers of Russia», heads of legal clinics of the Republic.

Within the framework of the Forum, a communicative training was conducted aimed at uniting students of law clinics. The students talked about what a team is, on what principles it is formed, what are the resources of teamwork. They presented their legal service and shared the subject of their professional pride. We tried our hand at the proposed options for team interaction, decided on what is useful and important for cohesive and well-coordinated work.

The organizers of the II Forum of Legal Clinics are the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Branch of the Russian Society "Znanie" in the Republic of Tatarstan.
