18 September 2024, Wednesday

The discussion of current digital solutions and the exchange of experience in their use took place within the framework of the Forum of Legal Clinics of Russia. The Forum was held at the Kazan Innovation University and was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of KIU.

Ilya Gomzik, First Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan, who took part in the Forum, noted that today legal clinics are an important tool for implementing state policy in the field of free legal assistance and play a significant role in the free legal assistance system, providing support to any category of citizens. Currently, there are 7 legal clinics in Tatarstan, whose representatives annually provide assistance to an average of 1,000 citizens.

«In our rapidly changing world, legal literacy is becoming not just desirable, but vital for every citizen. The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan has been actively cooperating with specialists from legal clinics for many years. The consolidation of all participants in the state and non-state system of free legal assistance helps to increase its accessibility and quality», - Ilya Aleksandrovich emphasized.

The Legal Clinic of the Kazan Innovative University named after Vitaly Gainullovich Timiryasov has been one of the leading participants in the non-governmental system of providing free legal assistance since 2001 and operates on a permanent basis, including during holidays. For more than 20 years of its existence, the University's Legal Clinic has carried out a colossal amount of free legal assistance to the population and its legal education. Over the past 5 years alone, more than 3,000 requests have been reviewed. The work of the clinic has a clear social focus: almost 90% of those who applied are pensioners, disabled people, and unemployed citizens.

The Forum was attended by heads, curators, employees of legal clinics from Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Kazan, subjects of the Russian Federation from different federal districts, as well as representatives of state authorities and local governments.
