First Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan Ilya Gomzik spoke to students of the University of the «Third Age» as part of the School of Legal Knowledge. The event was held at the Social Fund of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan and brought together about 90 participants.

In his speech, Ilya Aleksandrovich told the audience in detail about the areas of activity of the Ministry of Justice of Tatarstan, specifically focusing on the procedure and places for citizens to receive free legal assistance in the republic.

In particular, he noted the recently launched service that allows you to receive free legal assistance through the application «Resident Card of the Republic of Tatarstan». A new section «Legal Assistance» has appeared in the updated application. There you can find information about free legal assistance and contact the State Legal Bureau electronically.

The First Deputy Minister emphasized that the law defines a list of categories of citizens who can apply for free legal assistance. «These are low-income citizens, disabled people of groups I and II, WWII participants, Heroes of Russia, orphans and disabled children, rehabilitated citizens, SMO participants and their families, as well as other socially vulnerable persons», - he specified. The full list of categories can be found on the official website of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan in the «Free legal assistance» tab.

Last year, 2.5 thousand citizens applied for legal assistance, and in the first half of this year their number has already exceeded 2.7 thousand people.
