Tatarstan hosted ceremonial celebrations of the 282nd anniversary of Gavriil Romanovich Derzhavin's birth
On July 14, on the day of the 282nd anniversary of the birth of the outstanding statesman, great Russian poet and our famous fellow countryman Gavriil Romanovich Derzhavin, a number of festive events took place in Kazan and Laishevo.
The holiday began with the laying of flowers at the monument to Derzhavin in the Lyadsky Garden of Kazan. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustem Zagidullin, First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan Yulia Adgamova, creative intelligentsia, and representatives of the public.
Rustem Zagidullin noted that in Tatarstan, events dedicated to the celebration of Gavriil Romanovich Derzhavin's birthday are organized with special trepidation and deep respect. «Gavriil Romanovich not only left a rich literary legacy, but also demonstrated by his example how important it is to serve society and the state with dignity», - the minister added.
Later, in Gavriil Derzhavin's homeland, in Laishevo, the award ceremony for the winners of the Republican Prize named after G.R. Derzhavin in the field of literature took place, with Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan Mukharryam Ibyatov taking part. «The attention that Derzhavin paid to issues of law and legality is especially valuable. His activities as Minister of Justice were aimed at affirming the principle of equality of all before the law, combating corruption and protecting the interests of ordinary people. These principles underlie the modern justice system of our republic», - he noted.
